Nanaimo Search & Rescue

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and it can be easy to get off track. Ground search and rescue volunteers dedicate their time and energy to locate individuals who are physically lost, and bring them back to safety. The compass on the Nanaimo chapter's logo embodies the mandate of identifying location and finding the way. The compass also acts as a shield, because if you know where you are, you cannot be lost. The yellow color stands out as a beacon of hope in darkness. It also sets the SAR insignia apart from that of other first responders, such as police and fire departments, with whom they often collaborate. The motto "Leave No Stone Unturned" encourages these brave rescuers not to give up, while offering assurance to those they seek that every effort will be made to get them the help they need.

Because not all those who wander are lost... but some of them are, and they need to be found.
