Hot Springs Cove is actually on the mainland of Vancouver Island about 30 km north of Tofino and it is about an hour and 20 minute boat ride in each direction.

The cruise can be made along the outer side of Vargus and Flores Islands and this can be through some swelling ocean waters or through the inner side of the islands where the ocean is calm. Many boats go up one way and back the other. The scenery is breath-taking both ways. Once landing at the dock there is a leisurely half hour walk along a very interesting boardwalk trailhead that leads 30 minutes through an old growth cedar forest. The geothermal springs come out of the ground at 120°F and cascade down a waterfall into a series of soaking pools naturally cut out of the surf rocks. Highly recommended by many visitors, the hot springs make a wonderful day trip.

Departures are in the morning and early afternoon. Hot Springs are less accessible by boat from November-February, but some Tofino whale watching  charter companies do remain open year round. The Hot Springs are accessible year round by float plane.
